Greetings, gentlemen. This week, I’ve had the unexpected pleasure of wearing Mr. Burberry Indigo. This fragrance, which was recommended to me, initially seemed like just another run-of-the-mill mall scent. However, I was in for a delightful surprise, it would seem.
Mr Burberry Indigo is, of course, a flanker of the original Mr Burberry EDT, and it is classified as a Woody Aromatic fragrance for men. It was launched in 2018, and the nose behind it is Francis Kurkdjian, a perfumer with many distinguished creations under his belt. One is the infamous Jean Paul Gaultier Le Male, a personal favourite. You can check out my recent review of that fragrance here.
Now, let’s get into the nitty-gritty and determine whether this fragrance is worth your time and hard-earned money.
Appearance and presentation
Together with the name and the bottle design, this has been crafted to exude a gentlemanly vibe, and it does just that. The cap and ribbon combination looks like it is meant to resemble a top hat.
It’s simple, classic, and minimalist; I like it.
If you’re a fan of the Gentlemen Givenchy or Coach for Men fragrance bottles, you’ll appreciate this.
Price and where to buy
At its price point, this fragrance is a genuine bargain. I don’t usually recommend blind-buying fragrances, but I’ll make an exception for this one. It’s a steal that’s worth every penny. You can rest assured that you’re getting a quality product at a reasonable price, making it a wise investment for your fragrance collection.

The notes
Top Notes - Rosemary, Lemon, Bergamot, Grapefruit
Middle Notes - Mint, Water Notes, Violet, Sage, Tea, Hedione
Base Notes - Oakmoss, Iso E Super, Amber
The Scent
The opening is fresh, light, and airy, with prominent lemon and bergamot notes. The dry down is more herbaceous, with a salty oceanic accord that reminds me of the fresh, invigorating scent of the sea. Although this fragrance is top-heavy, I can still detect light, woody and amber notes as it matures. It could have benefited from more guts in the base, but I would say it’s still good enough.
This pleasant, simple scent is almost impossible to dislike, and I have enjoyed wearing it. It’s like the smell of your skin after taking a dip in the Mediterranean Sea on a warm day. This quality is a significant improvement on the original Mr. Burberry EDT, which was too basic and somewhat artificial for me. I’m sure you’ll enjoy it as much as I did.
Performance
Performance is above average and arguably better than Aqua di Gio, which, to be frank, isn’t that hard to beat. It will last the best part of the day, although a little top at lunchtime wouldn’t do you any harm. It will project for roughly two hours, and most people within a reasonable distance will be able to pick up on it. No issues there at all.

Compliment magnet. You’ll find that most fragrances in this category will garner considerable positive attention, and this one is no different. The wife is also a fan.
When to wear
You can comfortably wear this all year round without running into any issues. The best time to wear it, though (as with any freshie), will be during the day in summer and spring. You’ll generally get the best results during that time of year.
Where to wear
Again, it’s an all-rounder but best suited for casual settings. It’s also an excellent office scent as It’s very inoffensive and unlikely to annoy your colleagues. Its versatility makes it a reliable choice for any occasion, giving you the confidence to wear it wherever you please.

Absolutely. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this one, especially for the current asking price. This is a fragrance that any man of any age can start wearing without overthinking it.
