Especially Dak Lak, Gia Lai, Lam Dong, and Khanh Hoa Provinces

Location: Central Vietnam, Especially Dak Lak, Gia Lai, Lam Dong, and Khanh Hoa Provinces

Typhoon No. 15 is projected to bring heavy rainfall to the South-Central Coast of Vietnam, primarily in the provinces of Dak Lak, Gia Lai, Lam Dong, and Khanh Hoa. While the direction and intensity of Typhoon No. 15 may continue to change in the coming days, due to recent prolonged heavy rains, the risk of landslides, flash floods, mudslides, and flooding in low-lying areas remains very high.

In response, Vietnamese local authorities have banned all vessels operating at sea, along the coast, and at river mouths. Water from hydroelectric dams may also be released in the lead up to the storm to maintain safe operational levels.

Further Action You Can Take:

• Avoid travel to the affected areas.
• Do not walk or drive across flooded areas.
• If you are caught in flood conditions:
  • Avoid entering the water or abandoning secure higher ground. Instead, shelter in place and notify authorities of your presence.
  • Conserve battery power, especially on phones or other devices that may be used to maintain communication and signal for help.
  • Use objects to produce sound and visually indicate your whereabouts to rescue teams.
• Monitor local media and weather forecasts. Be aware that forecasted storm paths can change, and any additional rain might have outsized impacts on already-flooded areas.
• Move valuable documents and other items to higher ground, if possible.
• Comply with evacuation orders and promptly leave dangerous areas.
