Obituaries & Guestbook

Jamie Rae (Queoff) O’Neill, of Burke, Virginia, passed away at her home on October 29, 2025, at age 56. Jamie was diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease) in December 2023. Jamie met the disease bravely, and for nearly two years, lived her days with dignity, grace, and humor, and refused to let ALS steal away her beauty.

Jamie was born at St. Vincent Hospital in Green Bay, Wisconsin, on May 14, 1969, to James Queoff and Lee Ann Nuthals. From that day forward, Jamie’s mom would refer to her as My Beautiful Baby Girl. Jamie attended elementary school at Nicolet Elementary and St. Mary of the Angels. In addition to showing some early coloring skills and other academic promise, Jamie soon excelled in athletics, leading a select group in the 400-yard relay team to the national finals in Hershey, Pennsylvania. Jamie continued to grow academically and athletically at Washington Middle School and then attended Green Bay East High School, from which she graduated in 1987. It was there, during her Senior Year in Sra. Robokoff’s Spanish Class, that Jamie met her future spouse, Sean O’Neill, seemingly smitten by his limited vocabulary and poor pronunciation.

After graduating high school, Jamie attended the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point for her freshman year of college and then enrolled at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in English in 1992. After graduation, and with the gentle nudge of an engagement ring, Jamie agreed to move to the Washington, D.C. area, where she built a life with Sean, raised two wonderful boys whom she adored, enjoyed professional success as a highly respected and beloved high school English teacher, and shared generously and unconditionally her smile, her laugh, her warmth, and her grace with family, friends, colleagues and students.

To say Jamie was a Packers fan was an understatement. Anyone going to their house knew to what extent when they entered the “Packers Cave” in their home. The kitchen was a very happy place for Jamie. She loved preparing meals for family and friends and for all occasions. Christmas was a special time of year with her boys helping her decorate the entire house, including her six themed Christmas trees. Everything Jamie did was with her family in mind and it was evident by the way she kept her home, contributed to her community and cherished all the memories she made. She was her family’s biggest cheerleader, taking so much pride in all their achievements.

Jamie is survived by her husband, Sean and their children, Connor and Quinn; sister, Angie Queoff; brother, Jason Queoff; mother, Lee Ann (Pat) Kornely; father, James Queoff; father-in-law, Michael O’Neill; step-brother, Jed (Sara) VandenLangenberg; two sisters-in-law, Katy (Jeff Shere) O’Neill and Molly O’Neill; and a very special nephew, Ian Way.

She was preceded in death by her mother-in-law, Patricia O’Neill; stepmother, Linda Queoff; maternal grandparents, Art and Helen Nuthals; paternal grandparents, Jerome and Dolores Queoff.
