I’m a genuine fan of Ouai, and was instantly curious when I saw that they carry their own Hair Gloss In-Shower Shine Treatment. I get my hair highlighted every 8-12 weeks, but I wash my hair daily and heat style it a few times a week, so I’m pretty harsh on my hair and am always looking for low-maintenance products that will revive my hair color, add shine, and make me look more polished.

I’ve seen mixed reviews on it, so I was excited to try it for myself to see what it’s all about. I personally loved the Ouai Hair Gloss In-Shower Shine Treatment and found it much easier to use than some of the other glosses I’ve tried. It made my hair shiny, soft, and gave my color a little boost in between appointments. It’s easy to use and only takes 5 minutes, which I appreciated. I’m all for taking care of myself and love beauty rituals, but want low-maintenance products that provide big results, and the Ouai Hair Gloss really nails it in that regard. I’ve used the gloss for about 6 months now, and find that it’s my secret weapon for special events or don’t have as much time to do my hair because it makes my hair shiny and hydrated, so I look (and feel) more put-together.

That being said, where I disagree with the brand a little bit is that I think you need to use conditioner before using this gloss. I have fine hair so per the brand’s instructions, I should skip conditioner and use the gloss after shampooing. When I did that, my hair tangled and felt really dry once I got out of the shower. I did notice shine and softness the next day, but the tangles weren’t worth it.

After experimenting, I found that using even just a little conditioner to make sure my hair was fully detangled after shampooing eliminated the entire issue and also made the gloss work that much better - my hair was even softer, shinier, and looked like I had my hair glossed at the salon. Even with fine hair, the combo of conditioner + gloss didn’t weigh my hair down, it wasn’t greasy, and I had great volume the next day.

I love that the gloss also offers heat protection; in a way, using a hot tool almost activates the gloss to work even more because your hair looks sleek and shinier.

Overall, the Ouai Hair Gloss In-Shower Shine Treatment has become one of my new favorite hair products. It’s easy to use if you use conditioner beforehand, adds shine and hydration, gives your color a boost, and makes your hair look like you stepped out of a salon for just $34. A little product goes a long way, and I’ve been using the gloss for months without making a dent in the bottle. As a low-maintenance beauty girl, this gloss makes me look and feel more put together without requiring lots of effort, so I highly recommend it.
