Gucci Princetown Mules Review
Gucci Princetown Mules Review
I contemplated them for a long time because I didn’t know if the mule style would be something I would tire of or would go out of style quickly. But I realized that I just like them better than the loafer and I knew if I loved them, that I would get a lot more wear out of them, even if they weren’t necessarily ‘in style’. I also think the mules are a lot more versatile than the loafer, in my opinion. You can even wear the mules with joggers and still look cute so they are way more versatile. You can also wear them dressed up or more casual with jeans- so many different ways to wear them! But honestly, after having my Gucci Princetown mules for over two years now, I don’t see the mule going away anytime soon. So you can rest assured that you will still be in style!
Sizing
I wear a US 8 and if anything, I can go down to a 7.5 in certain shoes. European sizing can be a little tricky and I ended up taking a 38.5 in these. One day when I was at Nordstrom I decided to try them on just to see if I even liked them and what size I would need. And this was the size that fit me perfect. If you can try them on before you buy, that is ideal. If not, I would recommend a half size up and make sure you can exchange/return them if they don’t fit!
Comfort
So these were a little stiff at first and the first few times I wondered if I had made a mistake. They weren’t uncomfortable by any means- just stiff. Which I think is pretty normal for luxury shoes because they usually take some break in. After a few wears they were a lot less stiff and now are comfy as can be. Another thing to note is that they really do stay on your feet unlike most mule styles. I’ve never had an issue where I am gripping my feet to get them on or worried I might lose a shoe. It’s weird, but once you slide your foot in there, it stays put!
Price
They are $790 which is pretty much across the board even in different color ways and styles.
Pros
Well MadeThere is just something about these shoes that you can tell they are a luxury item. You really are getting what you paid for. The quality of them is impeccable. And you can just tell from the moment you first slide your foot into them that they...
Cons
ExpensiveI think this is always a con with luxury items, but why do they have to cost so much?! But think about how much you will wear them and the years and years and years that they will last. This isn’t a pair of shoes that you replace every season. Can take a little breaking inThey were a little stiff at first, but not uncomfortable. I needed a few wears so they didn’t feel so stiff and hard, but after that they are comfy as can be!The tip of the toe gets damaged easilyMaybe it is just me or how I walk, but the tip of the toe is starting to see some wear as you can note in the photos. I’m sure I could take them to a shoe repair and they would have them looking as good as new again.
Where to Buy
There are a ton of retailers that carry the Gucci Princetown Mules like Nordstrom, Saks, Bloomingdale’s and of course the Gucci store. So wherever you feel comfortable purchasing from or whatever is close! I personally bought mine from Sak’s and ordered them online. But I think it was out of pure laziness of knowing I wanted them and not feeling like driving to the store to purchase them. There are also tons of dupes out there. And I did try them on before I decided to splurge on the real deal. The difference you get with the Gucci mules is that they really do stay on your feet and eventually after you break them in, they will be one of the most comfortable pairs of shoes you own. Here are some great dupes though:
